Overcoming Obstacles

Born and raised in China, Hongying Liu's life was extremely hard growing up. She did not have the money nor the support system to attend school, which forced her to leave her hometown at the early age of sixteen and begin working.

After marrying her husband and making the courageous move to the United States in 2013, she found herself in a whole new environment.

Diplomas, speaking English, learning to read - those are all the things our students work toward to move on to college and a job with a liveable wage.

Kids Gain Confidence to Read

Caring volunteer tutors use hands-on activities to motivate dyslexic children. Catching up to their grade reading level gives them courage in class.
